Our Nervous System... in a nutshell!

00:10- Your mind is powerful!

  • The placebo effect is scientific proof that we have the ability to heal ourselves.

01:25- Chronic illness is NOT in your head!  However, subconscious trauma and chronic nervous system dysregulation is a critical piece of the puzzle that should be addressed!  Subconscious and nervous system healing can be one of the most profound healing tools in your toolbox.  It absolutely was for me and continues to support me far beyond anything else.  And that’s why today we will be diving into nervous system regulation!

  • Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest and Digest)
  • Sympathetic Nervous System (Fight and Flight)


04:10- Conscious vs Subconscious

  • Past wounds get stored in our subconscious and can set off a constant subconscious alarm, triggering our nervous system alarm bells.


05:17- The Stress Response

  • Fight: Many times our first response to a perceived threat is to fight.
  • Flight: If we can't fight our threat, we flight to safety. 
  • Freeze: If you can't fight or flee the perceived threat, your body can move into freeze.
  • Fawn: When in freeze, we can appease or dissociate to survive.
